Anticipated metal albums of 2012

By Georgi Bomb

Not only is 2012 seemingly the year for films (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Hobbit, Silent House, Total Recall, Dark Knight Rises) but it also is quite an exciting year for metal too!

Starting off with the news that Cattle Decapitation are heading back into the studio this year to work on a follow up to 09’s Harvest and the Floor. Unfortunately they are being very cagey about details, releasing this rather, enigmatic video:

Belgian band, Aborted have finally teased the last out of their fans with the highly anticipated seventh studio album, Global Flatline, out at the start of the year and features guest vocals from the likes of Black Dahlia Murder, Misery Index, Rotten Sound and Benighted.

Sticking with all this death metal malarkey, Napalm Death were exciting fans on their last tour with some new tracks off their fifteenth album, Utilitarian, available from February 12.

Cerebral Bore are also beginning work on their next edition after the debut Maniacal Miscreation tore the death metal world a brand new one.

Heavyweights, Lamb of God, are all ready to unleash Resolution in February and if December’s single, Ghost Walking is anything to go by, it’s going to be a treat.

Tagging themselves as blackened punk metallers, new-to-the-scene from Norway, Kvelertak, have been talking in interviews about a second album and for lovers of the rumour mill, keep your ear close to the ground for new material from Slayer and Cannibal Corpse too.

This year is definietly going to rock for fans of Soulfly, Dying Fetus, Stone Sour, Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die and many many more that we really can’t fit in one article.

All that’s left to say is thank god we have seen the back of 2011 because 2012 is looking set to be heavier than ever!
