Back in 2009, director JJ Abrams of the beloved sci-fi franchise Star Trek made plenty of friends as well as making a decent profit at the box office so it comes as no surprise that Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the film, wanted a sequel.
Originally planned for a June 2012 release, the film has now had the date pushed back to Christmas 2012; not unlike the first Star Trek film which was delayed from December 2008 to May 2009 but that was for scheduling reasons.
Screenwriters Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman Commented earlier this week, “J.J. Abrams has been highly distracted this past year with Super 8 and has not yet approved the 70-page outline for the new Trek script”
It is expected that JJ Abrams will take the directors chair on this new voyage to the final frontier, but with no script approved and Abrams fussy nature as a filmmaker – expect more delays ahead.
